One of the best arias by Rossini, not very popular except maybe for clarinet players since Rossini, who used to recycle his music, wrote the famous Introduction, Theme and Variations for Clarinet based on this theme.
MALCOM: Martine Dupuy
Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala
Director: Riccardo Muti
Teatro alla Scala, 1992
Stage director: Werner Herzog
I added subs in Italian in the vid. This is my translation in English (sorry, it may not be perfect:-):
How many tears - I poured so far
Crying far - from you beautiful rays
Any other object - is deadly to me
All is imperfect - I hate everything
The light of the sky - no longer shines
No longer sparkles - a star for me
Dear! only you - make me calm
You give back to soul - grateful mercy
