MTV International - Upcoming new channel logos (July 1, 2011)

Presentation of the new channel logos for the upcoming rebrand of MTV Europe, MTV UK, MTV Dance, MTV Hits, MTV Music, MTV Rocks and MTVNHD. The switch will occur on July 1st, 2011.

Really hope they switch to 16:9 tomorrow, it's scandalous MTV in UK hasn't done this earlier.

@RNDH1987 @RNDH1987 The actual on-air graphics have been produced in widescreen format for some time now, with 16:9 as the new standard in mind. It is up to the actual broadcasters to determine wheter they will accept this new trend and be able to offer their feeds and programming to consumers in this aspect ratio. A similar, technical, issue exists with CNN International, which is expected to switch to widescreen some time later this year. It varies region by region.

This whole new logo thing. Iv'e seen it being used since quite a while ago. Not in an official manner though. But I have noticeed the "cut off" logo being used numerous times. Just wondering why make it official until now?

@afolox73 Since the first half of the year 2010 the new logo has been officially used only on MTV USA and MTV Russia. The remaining countries around the world have kept the old 'Music Television' logo, until now. That will change globally this Friday for the vast majority of feeds, including MTV Europe, MTV UK, MTVNHD, MTV Hits, MTV Dance, MTV Rocks and MTV Music. The logo is therefore new to most markets.

It seems that the rebrand is coming to Mexico, too. I'm watchin "Playlist" right now and the logo is the new one, but it's weird cause some videos are shown with the old logo and some others with the new one, maybe it's a test.

@casismallville Yes, I know. These are oly tests. There have been some in the early morning hours a few times in the past several days. Remember though that these are solely tests to check the functionality and the new graphics will officially launch on Friday.

In Latin America, MTV SD isn't 16:9. You have to pay extra to watch MTV HD.

From today, also here in Italy MTV switched in 16:9!
