They have to change the names so it rhymes and has the needed amount of syllables...
-
Oh, WHY did they chance the names? Its horrible...
No Offense, but The French think, everything has to be in their OWN language. This way they destroy the honor of the original. Shall I laugh or cry?

J'adore cette comédie musicale. Mais impossible de trouver la chanson du vieux Mathusalem... Quel dommage !

I have to agree.

Thanks for uploading these!
Do you know where can I find the lyrics to all (or at least some) of these songs in french? :3 Thank you!

In Finnish version Skimbleshanks was ''Kiikunkinttu''. ''Kiikkua'' means rocking and ''kinttu'' meand foot.
Rockingfeet :D!

I bought the one with Angelika Milster and Steve Barton. I am of the opinion that if a cast's Munkustrap, Grizabella, and Tugger (because there are some BAD versions of Mr. Mistoffelees out there that have Tugger singing it) are not very good, then pretty much the rest of the show will go downhill rather quickly.
you shoulda bought the other one NinjaDraconis, it's a LIVE Cast recording done right there at the theatre

But I think that the Vienna recording is better than the Hamburg Live Cast.

Where on EARTH the French pulled EDGAR from for SKIMBLESHANKS I will never know! I laughed for at least ten minutes from the name change alone. (However, the German cast is so good, I bought that recording!)

Which German cast did you buy? The one with Angelika Milster as Grizabella and Steve Barton as Munkustrap or the one with Andrea Bögel as Grizabella and Hartwig Rudolz as Munkustrap?
