  • an after work fishing trip, about 5.30 and in direct sunlight and excellent un-obstructed visibility i startled a very large black cat lying in the sun 50m directly in front of me. this animal immediatley jumped up a tall riverbank and in a few bounds was out of sight. approx 80cm tall with a body lenght from head to tail approx 150cm. what i remember most clearly was its long thick tail. i know they exhist and its only a matter of time before its proven. this was at charlton, western victoria.

  • Thanks for that impalanick, I haven't been as lucky to have seen one yet...

  • yeah thanks for posting the vid, my interest has been rekindled as there have been resent sightings in the town of ST.Arnaud, 30km south of Charlton. in one way i think i'm lucky to have seen one but its also a bad thing as i want to prove it so much and its so frustrating. my sighting was less than 1km from Charltons centre so taking that into account, i'm absolutely positive that there existence will one day be proven as they are living close to large populations.

  • Thats good keep me posted, i am very interested and always take your camera.

  • This is so believable..

I mean if someone came up to me and said.. "hey I seen an alien in the bush".. of course i'm not going to believe them.. but if someone said that they seen a big cat that looked like a black leopard in the bush.. it's highly believable and very possible.

  • I live in northern British Columbia Canada. We do have native big Cats like:Couger,Linkx,Martin and so.But in the past 6-7 yrs there were over 2500 sightings of Tigers(alone or in pairs) in British Columbia and over 1000 in the Yukon and North West Territories.I'm thinking if the're wild they could made their way from Siberia. Please let me know your thoughts or if u have knowledge about'em Thannx

  • i bet they do exist how they got here most likely released by careless people who kept them as exotic pets or in small private zoos maybe even the odd circus animal never the less there is way too much evidence but the officials are trying to hide it

  • To be honest, with everything else in Australia that is actively trying to kill you, i'm suprised Australians have time to care about ABC's.

  • They do exist! I saw one 20 years ago in western Sydney.

I stopped short of running it over as it was eating road kill.

I had the high beams on and beeped the horn and it slowly moved off the road into adjoining bush. It was huge... way too big to be labelled as a cat gone feral.

  • I saw a cat just near Nhill (Vic) driving over from Adelaide to Melb at dusk.

Crossing the road in front of me appeared to be a border collie size cat and padding across briskly. I had to slow down and after it crossed it turned looked at the car and hissed. The colour however was like a Tabby with a fair bit of white and darker on the back.

It freaked my wife and I out a fair bit.

  • i saw a big black cat near my old house at coonamble NSW just inside the fringe of the trees, i just saw it for a second or two but its= was very big and you could see from the way it moved that it was a strong, powerful animal, turning to bound further into the bush and out of sight it a flash. i suppose it is scary to think that they are so close to our homes and that the authority's dont believe there real, but i just think its awesome that they are here haha, i love big cats, <3

  • I think it is highly probable. No circus has crashed? Who said it had to crash? I think these things may have escaped from tipperary station, back when it was a private zoo. Think im wrong? They used to have all sorts of animals there, including rhinos. And a big cat wouldnt be the first one to escape. In 2009 a pygmy hippo was shot in the northern territory. They are native to Africa, not the usual thing to find in Northern territory. (Tried to attach link to article but errors occured)

  • Hunters who hunt the panther and puma have admited to never seeing them in there own habitat.... so why is it so hard to believe that they are not in Australia....

Easy meals with sheep stations and our wildlife... and as for that zoolgist's comment on "there have been none found on the road...." Like a big cat is going to be dumb enough to get hit by a car you fucking idiot.

  • just have a look at how many people are attacked in canada

  • Somebody had told be that when they won a trip to a resort near where these sightings took place and at night she swore a black cat came right up to her door and made some strange noise, the next day when she told one of the resort managers they exclaimed that a few other people had the exact same complaint... I do believe this is true..

  • Everyone always talks about the cats in the Blue Mountains and in NSW. You never hear anything about cats being in VIC! I have seen one, I know plenty of people who have seen them. I think it's because where our Gov flat out refuses to listen to any of it, NSW Government has actually lauched investigations into it.

  • the funny thing is ive seen a lion cage here in australia its actually up the river from me

  • I've found marks and heard them. Scare me to think about it. lol

  • I've seen a big paw print in dirt on a sheep farm and something big, black and cat-like (long heavy tail) once crossed me and a friend's path (damn fast straight across the track) on a mountain bike riding expedition in Victoria.

  • Yeah, it's pretty possible that someone had a leopard, swamp cat, jungle cat or whatsoever as a pet, which escaped/was released. @ herseyluva, in Amsterdam we have parrots in a park, it's not like they are native in western europe :") (those parrots actually thrive here, even though the weather isn't too nice during the winter and very rainy).

  • yea i completly agree, its extremely believable, its quite likely that people who wanted a large cat as a pet realeased them, they got to big so they drove them out somewhere and dumped then, its completly reasonable. We have peacocks in Georgia (US) and they definently not native.

  • people have found there scats 1 has bean shot and some 1 has bean attacked
