MASON RACK BAND

Originating from the Gold Coast in Queensland, Mason Rack Band is not afraid to break all the musical genre rules. The bands new album Limits of Grip does just that, flaunting expectation by combining a classic mix of heavy rock, blues, jazz and roots complimented by the modern flavours of country punk, jazz, alternate rock and reggae funk.
Known for a swampy blues / rock sound the band influences include flashes of Tom Waits, Jimi Hendrix, Tex Perkins, Jeff Buckley and Muddy Waters with roots extending to Ben Harper. Throw in a slide guitar, raspy vocals, a rocking bluesy bass, massive drum percussion and the result is a spectacular kaleidoscope of musical genres.
The popular three peice is renowned for their amazing live stage performances. Punters have been kicking up their heels for years to the drop down percussion beats that involve all three members of the band and the audience. The band has played alongside artists including Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson, Buddy Guy and Keith Urban to name a few.

FRONT MAN MASON RACK
Mason Rack started playing percusion at the age of six with his musicion father Billy Rack. Progressing to drums at age eight, Mason was able to play any style of music. For the next four years Mason developed a natural rhythm that is now part of his soul and way of life.
Mason picked up a guitar in his early years and mastered the genre of blues and rock which is his true passion. His stage performance is an experience in itself. With more than 2000 shows performed including major music festivals throughout Australia and Canada, the musician shows no signs of slowing down.
The raspy vocals of lead frontman Mason Rack have been described by fans as one on the sexiest voices in the blues music scene with flashes from Tom Waits and Led Zeppelin.
With a new album just released, a non stop 2011 tour calander and a fifth annual tour through Canada in July, Mason is looking forward to an epic year.

ON THE BASS NATHAN ''COLOSSUS'' LEE ARCHER
Nathan hails from the beautiful island state of Tasmania and made the move to the Gold Coast in 2005 after spending time travelling the world. It was then that he became involved in the Queensland music scene, playing in a variety of original bands - including; Manzuma, The Seasons Call and Top Deck. With his trusty Music Man bass, explosive energy and abilities to play multiple instruments, Nathan brings an exciting element to the Mason Rack Band experience. Nathan's influences include RHCP, Led Zepplin, Ben Harper, Jimi Hendrix, Incubus and on the bass, Victor Wooten, Flea, Juan Neilson, John Paul Jones and Marco Rodi. With funky bass lines, this qualified musician likes to rock out on stage even joining in on a crazy percusion live performance with both Mason and Joel.

PERCUSSION / DRUMS JOEL ''THUNDERFOOT'' PURKESS
Based from Edmonton Canada and graduating from Grant MacEwan Jazz College, Joel "Thunderfoot" Purkess flew over to Australia after a successful 6 month tour with the Mason Rack Band in Canada. Joel, who now resides in Australia, is one of the best drummers Mason has ever seen. Some of Joel's influences include Virgil Donati, Buddy Rich, Gavin Harrison, Chad Smith, Jojo Mayer and Tony Williams. Known for his energetic show stealing drum solos, Joel is winning over crowds one beat at a time. With a fiery passion for drums and a love of all things rythmic, Joel is a perfect fit for the Mason Rack Band.
