In the upcoming Fall semester at Brock University, I'll be taking a fourth year game production group-course. Our group has already begun ground work in summer on learning the engine and various important production steps, so that we have plenty of time this year to do proper revisions and testing.
Anyways, here's a test menu I built. The game may or may not be about robots or lava. The menu's current functionality is:
- Cursor moves with mouse input.
- 'Play' button launches the 'Deck' deathmatch level.
A few things to possibly add later are:
- a cinematic level pan instead of a first-person still view.
- 'Exit' closes the game.
- 'Options' opens up a new interface (not sure if a new map is needed for this or not).
- Clearer images (the raster images got all pixelated for some reason).
Programs used:
- UDK
- Adobe Flash CS5
- GIMP 2.6
Done by following these tutorials:

Same way I did....The menu was made in Flash using fscommand as the way to link the buttons....and then Kismet to control it on the UDK side. It really is quite simple. Looks and design is the hard part.. This guy did a nice job!
