Yet, the signals for future problems are evident early on. Repeated requests, children not listening, constant arguments over chores or homework, and even childhood tantrums and signals of future problems...if handled poorly.

Repeated requests are not only exhausting and frustrating, but this parenting strategy is destined to fail. Arguing and negotiating is always going to get worse over the years. Children not learning to be responsible today means that future challenges will be harder.

Today, we will discuss how to begin replacing those words, arguments, and negotiations with PARENT action. Action in the form of clear, predictable limits. Limits on options. Limits on foods. Limits on TV or video. Limits on playtime. Limits on misbehavior. And the list goes on...

Limits are important for children because they teach kids what to expect about reality. As they go through the educational system, get jobs, have friendships and romantic relationships, there will always be limits.
