★You can find all of Shonai Sashikos' basic patterns at Susan Briscoe's "the ultimate sashiko source book" or "遊佐刺し子に遊ぶ".Please seak our books, Amazon.co.jp::: Modern shonai sashiko is based on Yuza sashiko, and it is stitched on line, although Yuza sashiko needs only vartical line or non. 'On line stitching' is easier to teach and to learn than without line. 庄内刺し子は5ミリの方眼用紙で下絵を書き、それをチェコペーパーやチャコペンシルなどで布に写してから刺していくため、手馴れた方が刺せば針目も揃い大変整っ­た仕上が­りになりますが、反面、刺す物のサイズに合わせて文様を縮小拡大するような加減ができにくい。ところが遊佐刺し子はもともと下絵無し、あっても縦の線を入れたり、­手縞の­縦線を目印に利用するくらいのものですから、手馴れた人が刺せば伸縮自在、出来上がりの物のサイズに文様を合わせる手加減が常にできるのです。そこが庄内刺し子と遊­佐刺­し子の一番大きな違いです。初心者向けの庄内刺し子に熱心に取り組む方たちが、一日も早くみなさんが上級の遊佐刺し子へとステップアップして下さる事を心から願ってい­ま­す。

平成22年11月23日より12月5日まで、山形県鶴岡市、NH­K鶴岡ギャラリーにて「遊佐刺し子に遊ぶ～みんなちがって　みんないい」展示会を開催中です。桃山時代の刺し子や明治時代の­橇曳き法被など8点のほか、Susan Briscoe の見ごたえのある大作「鯉観音（こいかんのん）」をはじめ新作の­遊佐刺し子とパッチワークのコラボ作品約200点を一度にご覧い­ただけます！皆様のご来場を心よりお待ちしております！
