I agree, his style is different to Malmsteen. Sure, they could both be categorised as Neo-classical, but so could a LOT of other players; Impellitteri, Stump, Vinnie Moore to name just 3. As for his weight, Shawn Lane was overweight, but a more AWESOME player you would rarely find. What I'm curious about is where the Caparison Dillenger II is.

@skingaz Yes I agree, I think he was signed on to ESP guitars before making this dvd in young guitar magazine, then went to Caparison guitars...I don't know I could be wrong...

@aandc2005 Makes sense! Dunno why he ever changed though, cos' he sounded awesome on the ESP M-II :)

@skingaz Well if your a fan dave mustain like I am, I remember reading in guitar world last year or maybe the year before that, he said that he used Jackson guitars for a while and the deal was they were going to give like 3 or 4 (could be more..) a year (u.s.a custom models) and they kept getting less and less until they weren't giving him any so thats one of the reasons he moved to dean guitars, maybe thats what happened to mike with esp guitars...just a thought..

@aandc2005 Not really a fan of Mustain, much as I like some early Megadeth (Symphony of Destruction - for example) but I can totally understand him getting hacked off with Jackson. Similar reason Vinnie Moore left Ibanez behind I think. (cos they wouldn't offer him his own model)
Considering how many mediocre guitarists (by MJR's standards) have sig. models at ESP, it's shocking that he wasn't given one!

@skingaz Yes I agree, ESP should have made a sig model for him. That would have been great!!
