Lawrence Berkeley National Labs explores three efforts: cheap solar energy, storing carbon deep underground, and energy efficiency in China. Ramamoorthy Ramesh discusses research to make photovoltaic cells using the most abundant elements in the Earth's crust -- materials that are literally as common as dirt. Nan Zhou expliores China's energy use and the policies that have been implemented to increase energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emission growth. Curt Oldenburg discusses a strategy to reduce carbon emissions from coal and natural gas. Series: Science at the Theater [7/2010] [Science] [Show ID: 19342]

  • i strongly disagree with the comment that says bad audio quality. it's quite ok.

I believe and agree that every day is earth day. we must love our planet.

  • @mechelledude .. there was more CO2 in our ancient history & did nothing to harm us. The earth isn't WARMING because of CO2 idiot. Most of the earth's CO2 comes from the ocean & dead things NOT people or cow farts. Did you fall for all the fake crap Al Gore was selling?!?!?

  • @MrAubery "that CO2 thing" is called SCIENCE. Deal with it!

  • @MrAubery People who aren't read up believe anything that makes logical sense to them, I find it more important to what he talks about in the area of energy and efficiency. The stronger the efficient machines humans create, the less we have to worry about; maintenance, replication of created machines, and the resources we use to create or run that machine.

  • without CO2 no plants, no plants no oxygen... no oxygen, youre dead, say no to carbon emission? i say no to copenhagen / cop15

  • NO, the ice ages last about 90,000 and there's a clear spot in which life thrive for about 10,000 years. The next ice age is about due.

  • @MrAubery The next ice age is roughly another 10000 years away. We can start worrying about that 9500 years from now.

  • Are people still falling for the CO2 thing. We are on the verge of another ice age. The little ice we have left is from the last ice age which is almost done melting. In the past there was lots of ice which reflected the sun, now it's time for another ice age.
