Simi Valley California was the site of the worst nuclear disaster in U.S. history in 1959, and the amounts of radiation leaked to the environment and atomosphere were more than 240 times that of the accident at 3-Mile Island. The area is beautiful today, but what still remains from many decades ago?

This was not disclosed to me when I moved to Simi Valley in 1986.

I have been living in Simi Valley for about 12 years now and I know so many people my age (17-18) that have little to no idea about this nuclear disaster that happened in our own city.

Chernobyl proved that recovering from nuclear accidents is not as bad as they make it sound.

It makes one wonder. I live 20 miles from ANO. There was an accident there yesterday. Dont think i was t freaked out. I know what press releases say, but prior to that ibe watched various documentaries on TMI , Chernobyl, and of course i know they wont come out and say opps we fucked up time to go for public panic reasons (or ass saving). Really freaky.. Anything to do with nume plants scare me :(.

The Soviets had a similar accident which released an astonishing amount of radioactivity, but it was hushed up.

I'm all for nuclear power and experimentation, but seriously, what were they thinking? "Let's use the most dangerous substance we can possibly imagine to control the most powerful and deadly thing that mankind has created and put it all in a building with no relevant safety features. What could possibly go wrong?"
