Joan Sutherland as the evil courtesan Giulietta and Plácido Domingo as Hoffmann singing the duet "Malheureux, tu ne comprends donc pas" from Les Contes d'Hoffman by Jacques Offenbach. It's a change to see Joan performing an evil character instead of the usual heroines and she is great. Richard Bonynge conducted, recorded in 1972

  • I thought love for opera made one's soul nobler, but as I can see, people discussing here lack good manners as much as those anywhere else on youtube. I am really sorry for you.

  • @jirizika1962 you must be mental!

  • Domingo is bad here.

  • it was a joke jimmydean! good luck!

  • oh no thanks, i wouldn't want a "lesson" from anyone with your tension or tone... yuck.

    ...

and you never did express why my taste in singers is "ignant"...

  • oh jimmy boy, how's singing going? still listening to ignant people? if you need a lesson i'll give you one for free. just put your stuff on your page and i'll comment.

  • stay away from false info. do yourself a favor and throw out all of your insider info. go and read caruso's method of voice production technique book written by his doctor Marafioti and then go on to manuel garcia's technique scales and voice excersises book and also try luisa tetrazzini and caruso's breath technique book.now, they are both of the school of pullin in the diaphragm and then releasing the pressure. i am from the school of appagare which is waht all tenors used after the 60's.

  • Wow. I must have gone over YOUR head... You see... everyone must have proper breath support in order to produce sound... you can observe this from watching any good singer... and to think any differently is just plain FOOLISH. Like I said... there are some things about singing that everyone must do... and you are not exempt from any of that.

And why do my favorite singers make me ignorant I wonder...
