@Geminii27 ...I completely forgot about this thing. My response to this is that the reason that a cockroach-in-a-sandwich is different than this scenario is two-fold. One) The reason that removing an insect from a sandwich makes the sandwich itself uneatable it the fact that not only can pieces of the bug be left behind, but that what ever that insect has come into contact with is usually inherently dangerous. I've never run across an advertisement that could kill me. Two) and far more silly, is
@JaganshiKitsune And should it be OK to sell you a sandwich with a cockroach in it, because no-one's forcing you to eat it and you can just remove it if you don't want it?
And about Adverts...get over it. If you don't like it, ignore it or use programs to remove it. You are not being forced to watch. Personally, I would see this tech following more the path of a cellphone or an iTouch, with applications geared towards a certain goal that would be activated at the users will, rather than the more open internet.
It's actually a very cool idea, because it would act like a HMD, which could be immensely useful in a work or school type situation where you might need to be both working on something and access information simultaneously. Use in an active enviroment would be hazardous, however. Not many people can multitask well enough with a phone, let alone a visual display.
@splitacab It scared you because you felt as if it was real but it is and you experienced it as this video jump started your brain. Do you want the most incredible life that disappeared from humankind which is still a very scary mystery to me but you must understand what you are seeing and feeling is real for people like me without a computer. Ask yourself why it is you feel so snug and safe in the cockpit of your brand new car? That's because your feelings have been slaved out to the marketers
Most of the idea for these is to purify what you see: remove the unwanted.
Billboards could say whatever *I* want them to say... now that's something I could enjoy~

(Continued from below) And far more silly is the fact of"Well, maybe I wanted a cockroach in my sandwich!"
There will always be downsides to technology and change, and downsides to remaining the same. That's life

@Geminii27 Actually, Steve Mann uses these to _remove_ ads on billboards. Although I doubt any company that commercialized this would do that :P
