Slow motion starts around 1:50 into the video.

I recorded the finale of the July 4, 2008 fireworks display using the high speed setting on the cell phone. The phone is a LG VX9700 (Verizon/LG Dare) and recorded 15 times faster than normal. When played back, the fireworks are in slow motion. The first part of the video is every 15th frame so the fireworks appear at normal speed. Music was added as the high speed recording does not record audio.

  • how many fps is this?

  • 120 fps

  • Nice video! Quick question, I just got the dare and when I take a slow motion video the screen goes a lot darker and somewhat grainy, does yours do that?

  • It does get grainy as the resolution at high speed is less than normal speed. I can't really say that the screen became darker when I took this as I was filming at night. Other than recording fireworks, I haven't had a reason to record anything at high speed.

  • were these the ones at new york city

  • No, these were in Lisle, Illinois. About 25 miles west of Chicago.

  • the music is retarded

  • Thats really cool.

BTW; the high speed feature is really helpful for recording golf swings and picking out flaws.

  • I have an LG Crystal, but my 120fps recording is certainly not slow motion! It's jerky, not at all like these wonderful fireworks. What can I do?

  • Uncle Zeph, My LG Dare seems to be recording for only 30 secs. I have a micro sd card in there but I need it to record for atleast 60 mins. Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated.

  • yeah i did the same thing with my Dare

  • it gets darker inside because regular light bulbs flick on and off really fast, at 120 fps some frames are light, some are dark....how ever, a flourescent bulb flickers much faster, every frame should have some light, i.e. TRY FLOURESCENT LIGHT

  • no it just does that on all them because of what he said.. so i just turn up the brightness and it works pretty fine.. especially outside...

  • I have the same problem. I thought it was just me. Guess not. When I take the high speed vid vs the regular frame speed vid, the color becomes really dark, almost purple. But outside in natural light, the problem subsides. Someone please comment and tell me if its normal, I still have my 30 days to return/exchange.
