  • Iraq is the latest....never lose sight that there were battles before and will be battles after, be ready, train hard. I was A Navy SARC (Medical) for 36 years, I just regret I am only able to watch now. I liked being with my Marines, and gave up promotions to stay with them. My son came home in 2007 and is buried in his dress blues. When he was a 10 year old, he said all he wanted to be was a Marine. Hooyah buddy, guard the streets until I get there.

  • In THE BATTLE HISTORY OF THE US MARINES: A FELLOWSHIP OF VALOR, pg. 12-13, overall the performance of the battalion of Marines that formed part of WInfield Scott's Army which captured the Halls of Montezuma, was not particularly distinguished. Soldiers won the battles which preceded the assault on Chapultepec. Soldiers were the overwhelming majority of the troops which got over the walls into the fortress and subdued the garrison.
