MARCOS VALLE - MI HERMOZA (1972)

Marcos Valle recorded "Mi Hermoza" for his 1972 album "Vento Sul". It was a radical departure from everything he had done in the past. He decided to team up with an underground hard rock band, O Terço, guitarist Fredera and the twins Claudio and Paulo Guimarães (classically-trained musicians but then interested in psychedelia), were there as well. Many songs were written during a surf session in the small seaside village of Armação dos Búzios.
During that period, one could forget the old-fashioned bossa nova songwriter. He picked up some of his youth influences and let them out, let them fly and made the chance to put them on vinyl happen. The man who loved Gene Vincent's music as a boy listened to Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, E,L&P, Janis Joplin...
And here's the psychedelic "Mi Hermoza", where one can understand why Marcos Valle can be considered one of the Brazilian pioneers of Heavy Metal. Just listen to the interlude in the middle of the track!

Marcos Valle gravou "Mi Hermoza" para o LP "Vento Sul", de 1972. Foi uma ruptura radical com tudo o que ele fez no passado. Decidido a trabalhar com uma banda de hard rock underground, O Terço, o guitarrista Fredera e os gêmeos Cláudio e Paulo Guimarães (músicos eruditos, mas interessados em psicodelia na época), ele compôs boa parte do material durante uma session de surf em Búzios.
Nesse período, o antigo bossa-novista deveria ser esquecido. Marcos Valle se lembrou das velhas influências de Gene Vincent e do rock 'n' roll de sua adolescência e, ligado no som de Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, etc., mandou ver. Então eis a psicodélica "Mi Hermoza", onde se pode compreender por que Marcos Valle pode ser considerado um legítimo pioneiro do Heavy Metal brasileiro. Escutem o interlúdio no meio da faixa!
