RideAlong! with Tora! Tora! Tora! In this video you'll sit in the back seat of a T-6 Texan heavily modified to resemble the famous Japanese Zero fighter of WWII to film the movie "Tora! Tora! Tora!". We were accompanied by three other "Zeros" during a formation flyover of the annual airshow parade and a missing man flyover of the airshow grounds. This video shows the Missing Man portion of the flight. As we cross the center point, our aircraft pulled up out of the formation, leaving a hole symbolizing the missing man, in this case a former officer of the airshow. A huge thank you to Tora! Tora! Tora! and the Dayton Airshow for allowing me this great opportunity!

  • Why would any US pilots choose to fly in the IJN planes? I see one A6M2 replica that bears marking of Akagi, but the diagonal blue line is Tainan AG, which took part in the Clark Field raid on the same day, but not at PH operation.

  • It was a great show from the groun as well !

  • This video is kind of weird for me to watch. On the one hand (as a WW2 history buff) it's just off the "Wow!" meter! On the other hand, it's the visual viewpoint of the bad guys........ My grand-dad was on the AD-3 Dobbin, parked in the middle of Pearl Harbor, on Dec. 7, 1941. Though these aren't actual Zeros, it's still kind of a mind game.....if you know what I mean. Otherwise, a very nice vid! I wish I were there in person! (granddad would be rolling in his Arlington grave - lol!)

  • the one thing i noticed is that the wing tip space is smaller and they are slightly swept back either then that they look alot alike

  • @st82nd Correct! The aircraft are T-6 Texans that were modified to look like Zeros.
