On May 24, 2012, in London, U.K., WikiLeaks' editor-in-chief Julian Assange, CorpWatch's executive director Pratap Chatterjee, filmmaker Jean-Philippe Tremblay, and the Bertha Foundation's director of legal advocacy Jen Robinson, discuss the disintegrating freedoms within the world press and media, following the private U.K. premiere screening of the feature documentary film, SHADOWS OF LIBERTY.
SHADOWS OF LIBERTY takes an intrepid journey through the darker corridors of the American media landscape, where global media conglomerates exercise extraordinary political, social, and economic power. The overwhelming collective power of these firms raises troubling questions about democracy.
The film features Danny Glover, Amy Goodman, Julian Assange, Dan Rather, David Simon, Daniel Ellsberg, Roberty McChesney, Roberta Baskin, and Dick Gregory, amongst others. The film is directed and produced by Jean-Philippe Tremblay.

Thank you for posting! I want to encourage all viewers to check out and support independent media outlets, like DemocracyNow! with Amy Goodman and the viewer-supported "Real News Network" with Paul Jay. Both shows consistently have unique and exclusive news stories.

Friend, it is sad that there are not more viewers. I gather they are all busy just going on with their diluted lives, watching CNN, Fox, TMZ.

I read an old history book years ago that warned me: 'If I don't learn from the mistakes of my father, then I will become like him. "Those who don't learn from history, are destined to repeat it." I don't have guns in my house. I prefer logic and reason (Galileo?), I use knives to cut banana trees down to share with my neighbor who gives me meat. I prefer not to pay armies in my name to invade in the name of oil. I don't blame the soldier, I question our lifestyle.Do I need a 4wd in the city????

"It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his job depends on not understanding it." Upton Sinclair I believe but the point is established. I saw "shadows of democracy" on .au tv and was disgusted as usual with our capitalistic (read 4wd) money at all costs attitude. The 2nd biggest shock is the apathetic response to it. The greatest shock is seeing these capitalist's at remembrance marches attempting to honor the price my ancestors paid to give me a vote. Then ignore my vote.

It is a sad commentary there are only 2 comments here and only 1862 views as of Nov. 22, 2012. Where are our investigative reporters ? They seem to have disappeared and an oppositional critique has been marginalized.
