New heart built with stem cells

An entire functional heart was created using a heart 'shell' and stem cells. This has been done in the rat & pig, with hopes of using a pig's heart 'shell' for people. Livers, kidneys, and pancreas (much harder) are in the works.

They "injected the empty sac with heart cells from newborn rats. Within days, the cells had multiplied to flesh out the heart, which began beating on its own.

"We've taken organs from cadavers, removed all the cells, put cells back in and been able to reanimate what was previously a dead organ," said molecular biologist Doris Taylor, director of the Center for Cardiovascular Repair at the University of Minnesota.

"What that means, we hope, is that one day if you need a new organ, we'll be able to take your cells, transplant them into this framework or scaffold and build you an organ that works for you," she said.

@CDB72298 There doesn't need to be a necessary balance if humans beings were to expand and colonise other planets, and that's obviously going to happen and when it does, that's when overpopulation won't matter.

@1123joey i get what your saying about how in 50 years this will be basic science but life and death are not completely separate with out life you cant have death and with out death you cant have life. Because if no one died the world would slowly overpopulate like it is now. If no one died the resources of the earth would slowly deplete and then every one would die. So if you did not have death be apart of life then death would eventually over power life, and there must be balance.

@mattrR678 you make it sound like I have a religious belief im defending. I never said i had any religious belief. Now, as an atheist, let me correct you. We may have the most knowledge on religion itself, but we're so ignorant on the foundations of the religions. So few study their practices. We only look to their history and most simple and basic teachings. I may not have lived so long to be old, white haired and all knowing, but i'm old enough to conclude this through my experiences

@CDB72298 I'm sorry but you must be mistaken, life and death are completely separate. The thing is with this is that, it cannot be.stopped, this is just basic science in another 50 year's time because in about 50 years time we'll be very close to understanding what age is and how we can manipulate it, basically live forever.
