This clip is on the area of An Khe city along Highway 19 in Binh Dinh Province. Much of the growth owed to the major military base of Camp Radcliff located there, where the 1st Cavalry Division had it headquarters until early 1969. The 173rd Airborne Brigade was also there as was the 1/50 Mechanized infantry and many other units.

  • I believe 2nd battalian 5th marines were also there. 1967?

  • @gerry301 I don't recall hearing about any marines that far south at least when I was there. I think they were mostly in I Corps or maybe some down in the Delta. Our army battalion (2/17FA) did provide an FDC to a provisional Marine 155mm Howitzer Battery that was located somewhere in northern II Corps area.

  • 1st BN, 8th Inf, 4th Inf Div moved here from Dak To area in April 1969, until mid 1970.

  • @HistoryPackRat My mistake, I just did the research and it was An Hoa, not An Khe. That clears things up, for me at least.
