Luis Lozada hunting kudu on the Eastern Cape of South Africa with PH Marius van Deventer of Africa Bushveld Safaris. They took this bull after losing an opportunity at a previous one because they were scented. Instead of giving up on the spot where lost him, the PH setup them up overlooking the area in the footage from a hillside. Not even 20 minutes later, a new group of kudu, including this bull, grazed into the area. Luis took him with a Savage Model 16 Weather Warrior in 7mm-08 launching a 140gr. Nosler Accubond at 2769 fps.

  • Don't forget the 7x57mm Mauser, ballistic twin of the 7mm-08 that appeared about 80 years sooner, or the 7x64mm Brenneke, forerunner of the .280 Rem and .270 Win. The 7x57mm Mauser took most of Karamojo Bell's African elephants, and he was never charged once. It's been proven over and over that moderate velocities work better for most bullet types that most people buy. Less muzzle blast, less recoil, less flinching, and more accuracy. Decent bullet in the right place is the answer to success.

  • @WTFHunting ...... agreed. Ive got 1 in Australia... love mine!

  • @lplozada

    Yes it is.

  • @mrsmelzbad lol, I understand my daughter is 85 Ibs soaking wet, she prefers my 7mm-08, but for some reason she always grabs my 12 gauge during bird season and sticks me with her 20 gauge. Funny part is i am a easy 250 her gun doesn't fit me to good. Good luck on you're hunt and make a video of it.

  • @wileyisme Moose arent that hard to kill, Im sure it would be fine. I use a 300mag for everything, its those "big grouchy ones" you can bump into in AK, if not for them, Id carry a 243. But a 300 still looks like a .22 cal when you compare it to a grizzlys head. Im got her gun narrowed down to a 280 Rem or 7mm08, for recoil purposes, although she made a perfect head shot on her 1st small bull with my 300, at 75 yards, offhand.... He's gettin away give me your gun dad!.... uhhh OK?..... BLAM
