  • fuck they doing in the woods?

  • @trgsdfj "He most honors my style who learns under it to destroy the teacher."--Walt Whitman (by 'destroy the teacher' he means eliminate the disparity of knowledge) You are as smart as any of these people, you merely have to educate yourself and learn the principals of reason and logic. Anyone can raise to this level of intellect if they apply themselves.

  • @cfall234 If a tree falls in the wood, does Noam Chomsky make a sound? :D

  • Feels like I could meet Chomsky in the woods the next time I take my dog for a walk.

  • @westcoast1965 You obviously don't know the U.S.'s record then.

  • @westcoast1965 Ask the Polish, Hungarians, Czhechs, Latvians, Lithuanians, Estonians, Latvians, Bulgarians, Ukranians, Fins or East Germans who's the most brutal and repressive Noam.

  • Excuse me? The US has the most brutal record? Not the Soviets or the Chinese? Come on Noam

  • @ShadeToSun Those words have filled me with hope and confidence in my own abilities, I hope with a bit of hard work and perseverance I'll be able to flourish as a free-thinking being, it seems that they're simply aren't enough of them.

  • @Diderooot so what?

  • @bernlin2000 Agreed, But there are also strategies to save time. I tend to listen to those who are expert in the field and research what doesn't pass the smell test. In the 1700's one could conceivably have read all the known knowledge in the world. Today it is difficult to have a comprehensive perspective without an extreme level of research. It almost requires a group study. Check out Mystic Rob on FB, I got some discussions going.

  • @ShadeToSun It requires a hell of a lot of reading, far more than I can claim to personally, but that's a continuous process. I think as long as you're willing to continuously challenge your perspective and remain committed to seeing through others people's eyes than it's hard to not reach reasonable, fair, and well-informed conclusions

  • @roman14032 Also, I take it you think his studies in linguistics have to do with manipulative wordplay, which is a funny idea. Read his linguistics books (like Language and Mind). His field is entirely concerned with innate computational features of the brain.
