The fast food industry profits
from farmworker poverty
Farmworkers:
-wages have been stagnant since 1978
-work for sub-poverty wages, with no
access to healthcare, sick leave or
overtime
-have no right to organize to
-in the worst cases, work in modern day
slavery
Yum! Brands, Taco Bell's parent
company and McDonalds have joined the
CIW at the Table- Burger King, we
demand:
• One penny more per pound of tomatoes
picked
• A code of conduct respecting worker's
rights and human rights
• A place at the table where farmworkers
can work directly with the fast food
industry to ensure Fair Food!
March for Fair Food- Lawrence, Kansas
Members of Lawrence Fair Food, Kansas
Mutual Aid and the Lawrence Coalition for
Peace and Justice joined with CIW member
Gerardo Reyes Chávez in a 6-mile March for
Fair Food.
The march began and ended at Burger King
restaurants- sending a clear message:
Lawrence stands in alliance with the
farmworker's demands for fair food!
The Rally for Fair Food brought together
students and youth, members of the faith
community, workers, social justice activists,
professors, farmers, and farmworkers!
Free Food, which was donated by the Merc,
Amy's meats, Wakarusa Valley Farm and the
ECM- nourished the tired but enthusiastic
Marchers!
If they're not willing to do the work at the price the land owner is willing to pay then they should go away and give someone else willing to work the job.
Free market=Fairness

Good cause! Now, how can I purchase fair foods without going to a fast food place?
