In this video, Caplin Rous, an 18-month-old capybara, does some tricks that elephants normally do--like getting up on a small platform and standing on his hind legs.

  • @caplincapybara Are you the same youtuber as shmaplina? You both have Capybara's named Caplin.

  • @onix750 Caplin is Shmaplina. That was his nickname when he was a baby and we thought he was a girl.

  • Looking forward to owning one, but I'm just wondering if they are anything like dogs? Because that's pretty much how I would care for it. Take it for walks, etc. Could I buy food at a grocery store for them also?

  • @yanezftw You can walk a capybara but they are very slow. We go for long walks but by that I mean a long time not a long distance. Personality-wise they are something like a dog and something like a cat. They'll do tricks but only if there's something in it for them. Capybaras eat mainly grass which you cannot get at a grocery store. They also eat fruits and some vegetables but grass or at least hay is essential.

  • @haydutraduke You know nothing about capybaras and yet you have posted on many, many of my videos. I don't think you watched them or you would know something by now. It is so...how do you say...ironic? that you call me uniformed!

Capybaras are a species of least concern according to the IUCN. They are hunted for both meat and leather in the wild. Caplin is at least 3rd generation captive bred.

By the way, I am turning down your YouTube friend request. You must not know what friend means.

  • @CyteBoi that made my day ^_^

  • Caplin Rous trains its human pet well

  • I am almost in tears you are living out my dream of owning a capybara but I am so glad it's you that own's caplin because it's obvious you go above and beyond for your capy

  • @Muntasiful You clearly do not know how finicky Caplin is or you would also know that we have tried a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and there are very few that he will eat. He does like pears, raisins and dried cherries. And we try to feed him fruit popsicles most of the time.

  • @oPEACEoLOVEoJUICYo17 Popsicles are not healthy for humans, let alone animals. An apple or other fruit would be a much better treat for the animal's health, and just as sweet and tasty.

  • Boy, this creature has got it made! How good does it get to be hand-fed and obviously loved?

  • @haydutraduke Hmm. Feeding him popsicles is cruel? This animal obviously has the best life! Look at more videos. Its amazing what this woman does for Caplin.
