NINE is a vibrant and provocative musical that follows the life of world famous film director Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion, while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren). The film is directed by Rob Marshall (CHICAGO). The original 1982 Broadway production of NINE, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, won five Tony Awards including Best Musical.

@MARIAAL15 Haha..why only because of that? anyway, she wasn't bad though. Only thing i hate is kate hudson. How come they picked her to play in this classy european musical art film? So ..demeaning . Different case with nicole kidman anyhow. She always seems more like european to me anyway..
Natalie Portman would have been better. She got the taste and quality and more fit in with european set

After Javier Bardem (luckiest bastard!!) has envied me in 'vicky cristina barcelona'..Now daniel day lewis another lucky european bastard whom surrounded by beautiful ladies in Nine : Kidman, Cottilard and Cruz. DAMN!
Anyway, rotten tomatoes is a junk of bullshit! don't believe a word they said there. This film definitely deserved more than oscar-nomination. One of the most entertaining musical ever made! Indeed.
Anyway, i just hate kate hudson, she ruined the whole story!

Will be Oscar nominated for sure if not taking the win in some categories. Daniel Day Lewis has done a good job keeping his roles diverse and not becoming type-casted; which is becoming harder and harder to do for a lot of actors these days.
