Democracy, or bureaucracy? It is now in the hands of our elected School Board representatives to act to bring back Larkin Vocal Music Director Mr. Damon Carlson as a tenured teacher next fall. But who will our School Board support -- its educators, or its bureaucrats? What is in the best interests of the students and the taxpaying public, or what is in the interest of protecting the bureaucracy and its administrative power?
How is it that in America, a teacher, through an oversight in the contract or otherwise, is somehow supposed to give up equal protection of the law, and due process? How can there be a right of independent review, but then no corresponding right of appeal based upon such review? Clearly, there is such an oversight here that has resulted in a violation of due process.
Every person in the chain of command has told us that they have no power to do anything, and yet the School Board Powers and Duties clearly give the Board the power to act with respect to disciplining and dismissing personnel under their "Powers and Duties". The Board can address this matter through its Code Sections 2.241 on "Policy", and/or 2.243 on "Administration in the Absence of Policy".
Through our collective petitions, we as students, parents, employees and community members hereby tender our petitions on this matter as our formal grievance under Section 2.260 of the Code.

To support this cause, see the Facebook site:
