@davidwill6 to make sure the chain doesn't jump when they start pedaling... just in case somebody messed with the shifters.

@davidwill6 To get it in the correct gear, and in the optimal position for take-off. I do that all the time (and see other cyclists do that too) when waiting at stoplights.
