For almost two years, the smoking ban has sent drinkers in England outside the pub to light up. But one landlady in Barnsley has found a loophole in the law that allows her customers to smoke indoors - legally. Sky's Tessa Chapman has been to meet her.

  • yeah she had to stop him there cause he was getting to close to the mark more like!! smh

  • all the smokeing ban has done is drive another nail into the coffin that holds brittish industry so many pubs have gone under in the past 4 years since the bans initial deployment and still the sheeple say it has had a positive effect and is keeping the staff in the pubs safe the only thing the ban is keeping people safe from is gainfull employment

  • oooo this is an interesting one

  • @Florence00pi The 30 year study was initially funded by anti tobacco organisations. When they realised the conslusions it was coming to they withdrew funding. Does that not tell you something about the successive studies they have come out with? Like I said the elderly people living today have smoked the most and been exposed to the most smoke and yet people are living longer and longer. Surely that is evidence enough. I understand the need for seperate areas but this ban went way too far.

  • @spire1997 you know, I couldn't tell you if those studies are wrong or right, I would assume that there is a risk to passive smoking though. What I know for sure is that: passive smoking makes non smokers clothes stink, gives them headaches and other kinds of bad consequences (soar throat etc.). That alone is enough .So even if there was no imminent threat to overall long term health I support a smoking ban in pubs. And I am a smoker mind you. So I find it perfectly ok to make them go outside.

  • Neither does SHS. The two biggest studies into SHS found an unmeasurable affect on those exposed to it. Those studies were by the WHO and California University. Its also pretty obvious if you think about it. The oldest generation the world has ever seen is the one that has smoked the most and been exposed to the most smoke. Asthma was nearly unheard of before the early 80s yet smoking was everywhere. Asthma has increased as smoking rates and exposure have decreased. Open your eyes.

  • The smoking ban is built on a lie. There is no actual proof that even one person has died from 2nd hand smoke. After 40 years of studies, anti-smokers can still only produce computer projections based on dubious statistics, and ‘relative risk ratios’ which sound scary but mean nothing. That’s why we see, for instance, posters telling us that tobacco smoke contains various nasty-sounding chemicals, without mentioning that these substances are present only at infinitesimal, harmless levels.

  • that woman is a little shit

  • @trecker59 some people think it smells and others don't. Doesn't give you a right to be a prick and tell others what to do.

  • I trust they've also banned diesel trucks, buses and cars? When I get behind one of those things at a stoplight, a cigarettes sure comes in handy. To me, tobacco smoke smells a lot better than diesel fumes, and although I haven't seen any comparative studies, common sense tells me it probably isn't any more harmful.
