On January 4th, 0613 hrs I stared at this thing for 2 minutes thinking it was a plane who was flying low. Clouds appeared to be about 5000 feet. Then a bright flash of light alerted me, saw it go behind some clouds and glow brightly through it. That's when I took notice. I'm an Engineer for Union Pacific, I told my Conductor to take control of the train, dug out my camcorder and went outside on the nose of the engine and started filming just as it started to break up. News say it was a Russian rocket breaking up in the atmosphere. I know it's not a great video and there are some better ones of this out there but keep in mind I'm standing outside on the nose of a train going 50 mph in 28 degree weather fimling this in "nightshot" mode. This is how it looked like from North of Henry, Nebraska - located on the Wyoming/Nebraska state line and 7 Miles from Torrington, Wyoming.

  • idk if thats real coz the meteor has to b fast right and its like u didnt even move.

  • If you read my description on right you will notice we found it to be a Russian Rocket. Titled it as Wyoming Meteor due to appearance and to seperate from the hits under russian rocket, which is more broad ;)

  • When was this? I live in Torrington.

  • Early morning January 4th, 2007 Torrington, Wyoming. Actually my train was just North of Henry, Ne when I shot this. People in this region were the first to see it descending then breaking up, like in my video. Real great footage of it breaking up taken from a Denver newschopper. Can be found here on youtube.

  • I live in Torrington

  • Wow, nice job man. It's tough to even get a picture of meteorites falling.

  • That's awesome. :) Yeah, it looks like something man-made, because a meteor would be going much faster.

  • Wow!

  • That's dedication! Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks for sharing this!
