This week question has to do with the so called "Brain Drain" syndrome that many people claim is affecting our Caribbean Islands. Divine Diva is on the streets!
Also, I'm studying Civil Engineering at an English university. I've never lived in the caribbean but I have ancestry there. I'm hoping to use my degree (when I get it) in future to develop affordable housing complexes in the caribbean. That's my dream.
Maybe I'll start a reverse brain drain if I pull that off!
The first woman made little to no sense. As long as there are opportunities to secure good jobs and progress within them, more will stay.
Fact of the matter is, the jobs market is much bigger and dynamic in the US so this isn't a problem that will improve anytime soon, especially as one of the interviewees mentioned, tourism is one of the biggest sources of income for the islands, thus neglecting to develop other sectors of the jobs market.
@jahotgal01 nope wrong there are jobs, but they just do not get payed right, while impotent politicians pocket the tax dollars that should be going to the teachers. I say murder the politicians
@kwacou every year they pay these caribbean governments take the best teachers and fuck the countries but guess what the united states has all rights to do that. Out problems are the politicians allowing these things to take place.
The United States would not be competitive without draining the brains of the developing nations of the world. Over 50 % of phd's issued last year in the U.S. were given to foreign nationals. Info provided by U.S. gov't Go to gov't website or google, if in doubt.
@MosherMike That's great...It's so good to give back...I hope someday to give back as well. Keep it up.
