This could have TOTALLY happened on Seinfeld, but of course it would have been: the award for 'Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series' goes to Cosmo Kramer as Stephen Snell on Murphy Brown.

@DRORZANDMA After some Googling, I found that Robert Stein was a fairly famous California psychologist and medical doctor (Jungian analyst) and more importantly, Michael Richards' psychotherapist. He died in 1996, but Richards has mentioned him in a couple other interviews.
Apparently, he helped Richards get psychologically prepared for acting roles.
