Jazz Jackrabbit 2: Holiday Hare '98 (2/3)

Continuing play-through of Jazz Jackrabbit 2, Episode "Holiday Hare '98", on Hard mode. In each part I use JJNEXT to go to the next respective level, starting fresh. Level 2/3.

This is where things really start picking up. This level has more tricky jumps, platforms, and secrets than the other two levels combined I imagine. Not to mention there are a ton of flying lizards to deal with, one of the more annoying baddies in JJR2's world, and once again, they're all over here. Bats, bombs, and platforms plenty can make this one fairly tricky to go through all-at-once without messing up or forgetting something.


3:15 Took a couple dumb hits here, by not making sure the enemy was dead before overshooting my stop.

3:30 You can see the Bouncey power-up monitor here as I take the 1-UP, where I miss my chance to pick it up at 4:30. Note that if you shoot the life, it will fall and likely disappear until you jump down to grab it, causing it to reposition back at the top. This is because the fall is too far and the reposition is triggered only after you chase it, but not if you stand there. Fortunately I did not accidentally hit it this attempt.

4:58 Had some trouble with climbing these platforms even though I just climbed several a minute ago.

5:22 One of those tree-top jumping puzzles that are required to get through the level. You can't 'copter over the whole thing, since you're also going up.

5:35 Should have jumped down there first instead of backtracking later, but I forgot which way was the level direction. Silly me.

7:35 I really want to try Spaz's side-kick move into the box as the third trigger box falls next time. Almost got a mid-air stomp here, but the box tripped me.

8:44 Level finally complete, and with the completion music this time too.
