This is a demonstration of local anesthesia using Articaine infiltration via the attached gingiva. No block anesthesia is used. No topical is used. The articaine is the topical. A tiny drop of articaine is deposited on the tissue and after a very short time the needle is introduced. This is part one of two videos of third molar extractions. All the anesthetic is delivered on the video. The bone about these teeth is often the densest
in the jaws and requires the longest time of infiltration. These videos were made to demo the technique to a fellow dentist in Alabama named Miles. Our usual technique to do extractions or operative dentistry, is with infiltration into the papilla before and behind the tooth to be treated using articaine. The electrosurge is used to test for profound anesthesia and also to sever all the gingiva from the tooth. The result is a bloodless extraction. The sequence of the parts is reversed we did part 2 before part 1. If you watch part two there is a more detailed description of the technique in the description section. The patient is not sedated in any way.

Yours in better dental heath.

  • Hello! I am 20 years old and my wisdom teeth are coming it about 3 of them are half way out but they are not fully all the way out. does that mean they are partially impacted? if so would the dentis be able to just pull it out without me having to actually take anesthesia and have surgery? i'm extremely afraid to go under. I would rather just have a local numbing. my question is. is that possible if half of the tooth is out

  • @freerain120

putting folks to sleep to take teeth out only accomplishes two possible results..

First it shuts down the brain so they cannot think terrible thoughts.

Second in the very rare case, and I mean RARE, someone with aberrant enervation who cannot get numb by any known method of local anesthesia.. I have met one person in 35 years of practice..

  • Getting mine taken out in 2 weeks without being put to sleep. They're all 100% in though so I heard it should be quick and easy.

  • @implantdrdm please can you tell me what is the best way to deal with 2 side by side abscessed teeth on upper right side. I have no wisdom teeth and only have four molars to chew with on each side. I'm sixty years old with severe rheumatoid arthritis. I can't afford to go to a dentist. I am in pain periodically. is there a way to drill thru to the abscess and put antibiotic in there while draining infection?

  • What a cool dentist. He's even got a Hawaiian shirt on !

  • very educational....

  • I WANT THIS!!!!! PLEASE CONTACT ME I NEED YOU TO EDUCATE MY DENTIST!!!
