To the author: have you ever BEEN to brazil for a little while? I'm sorry to say it, but seriously, a lot of these things in there are not true at all!
Basically you are giving the natives a slap on the face saying this is a highly unsafe place. Anywhere I travel to, I leave the very valuable stuff in the hotel lock – this is to be done anywhere you go! I don't carry my 3000-dollar watch around in the streets of Paris, New York, Miami, or London!
Get it right!

In Rio, I found the subway system was fantastic and very safe, and 'thumbs up' was OK

total nonsense... useless info, sorry to say. And by the way, the video should be called Donts and not dos and donts

@snlapin Is funny to hear that Brazil is not a racist country...
We live in an apartheid society, in two very diferent worlds and not mixed at all.
The cool Brazil is for the rich people and tourists with money.
The dangerous Brazil have a killing rate higher than the Iraq war.

@snlapin I´m from Curitiba, and now I´m in Brasilia.
Curitiba is the city model in transportation and is very problematic...
Brasilia is the worst place for public transportation, and today 17/12/2011 the subway is in a strike, and is stopped for better payment to subway workers...

cool! I really hope you had a great time here, and you'll be always welcome...stereotypes always exist, you have to check to see if its true or not, in this case the video is totally wrong. I've also been is the US last july with an american family and i can tell that i really had a great time, people are very very friendly too. The US is my favorite country ever!!
so basically be a little coward...

Do not take public transportation? Nonsense. Anyone who is simply aware of their surroundings will be fine.
