A PIECE OF WORK takes the audience on a year long ride with Joan Rivers in her 75th year of life; it peels away the mask of an iconic comedian, laying bare both the struggle and thrill of living life as a groundbreaking female performer. Filmmakers Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg (The Devil Came on Horseback) expose the private dramas of this irreverent, legendary comedian as she fights to keep her career thriving in a business driven by youth and beauty.

  • That was awesome!! thanks for sharing :)

  • 1:33 LMAO; it's BACON you idiot!

  • I watched this docu the other night and loved it! I've been a fan of Joan since the early 1980s when I was a young teen. Bought her "What Becomes a Semi-Legend Most" album on vinyl (later on cassette & CD) and it was one of my fave albums.

This film shows not only why she's a success, but also a very real and sometimes sad side of her life and career. I love her and hope that all her fans and anyone in the comedy field watches this film and learns from it. Joan overcomes with humor and strength.

  • @PaulLeary how come it was on the gay and lesbian film festival. is she gay or does she have a big gay audience?

to me she looks like a joke but she is no joke cause otherwise she wouldn´t still be in the business. she was kinda funny in this movie/documentary.

  • I just Love her !!!!!

    The Mills Connection Show.

  • @primrosehoneyflower Death to shaky cam.

  • @hummarstra It's very difficult to shoot a documentary entirely on a tripod especially if you're following someone around and you're trying to not be intrusive. Unless you wanted a boring documentary where it's just sit down interviews I don't know what else you would expect from a documentary like this where you are required to follow a person around.

  • I saw the documentary last week, it was so sad, heartbreaking and one of the funniest documentarys ever! I was almost crying one minute and laughing the next! It was extreamly candid. The film ended with an amazing line, Joan saying "I'm a performer, that's all I am, is a performer", or something like that. It's out on DVD, December.14, I'm going to be buying it for sure!

  • why the hell cant i watch this wheere i am. in toronto for god sakes

  • SHE TOO DAM FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!
