oh some people.. of course this game is much harder than contra, in contra the game is easier because you get hit once and die. Imagine if that rule applied in this game(it actually does if you pick the last difficulty.), it would be nearly Impossible to beat!

Reading what people under me wrote make me feel strange. I love this game too and I think it's the best NES games ever made. The music was total kickass, It was darker and more serious than the cartoon and arcade version. The atmosphere of that game is so strong, that I can feel it right now... thank you guys for reminding to me how much I like it.

That's what made games like these great: you go through this incredible gauntlet of a game to get your comrades back from the toad forces, practically loaded with fantastic music, stages and bosses, you go to the Armada itself, you beat a Cruiser along the way, then the Toad Marshall comes into the fray, and personally tries to kick your ass!? One of my favorite classic adventures, hands down. Just awesome!

I had the misfortune of playing a Chinese bootleg version of this game where you always die with one hit, regardless of the life bar. And yes, I almost made it to here... that giant battleship before this always did me in. It took almost 3 years of continuous playing...
