Here is a short clip taken while working class GEA 4023 over the wonderful Montagu Pass from George to Oudtshoorn. This garratt is hand fired and was always a great steaming locomotive. Up front was class 14CRB no 1882. This locomotive has small 4ft wheels making her ideal for this mountain railway. At the time this video was made she was the only working example of that class and sadly was cut up by the museum in about 2000 after a collision with a diesel.
