  • Yes and no.. not all rigs have an iron roughneck. I think its a great tool, makes for a good trip.

    I've worked for years on a rig that didn't have one. I kinda missed that thing.

  • Work SMARTER not harder :) Still have to get the tongs out for BHA and topdrive connections. Makes trips easy..

  • @akfred ya true the novelty runs dry shortly lol

  • We only use tongs when breaking or making up the bit.

  • we use the Varco AR4500 , beats using manual tongs thats for sure.

  • I used this bit of kit on the Alba North, what a labour saver!!!
