Swamp rats

Now do you believe me? For the last 12 plus years I've seen these things but never knew what they were. They have bright orange chomper teeth. I'd try to tell people and they'd look at me funny. Walking outside late in pitch darkness they'd scare me to death rustling the underbrush, screeching, and diving in the water with a huge splash. The dogs used to go crazy chasing something at night.... but, I never got a good look at what it was.. Now I know. I am one with nature....."Nutria"

Nutrias ! I've seen these down in Oaks Bottom. Wonder if they are good eats ! Got to try sometimes.

People in Belgium eat Muskrat by the way, only they have changed the name in waterrabbit .

There are nutrias on the coast too. They are rarely seen though. I'm glad to see you caught them on tape.

Muskrat = Groundhog = Woodchuck = Land-beaver = Marmota Monax = Same animal. ( Just dont let them try to mate with your little Subarus! )
