I live with in sight of the "great Salt Lake" It is an ugly stinky toilet. And fire ants do not live in Utah.... anywhere in Utah.

I live 30 minutes from the great salt lake and can see it from my house it is beautiful sometimes it looks as if stansbury island is floating in mid air

The reason it smells is because of the dead brine shrimp on the shore... I have been lived in Utah all my life. Only been out there twice! The wind is horrible and the smell is bad.. I know someone that is on a rowing team and they practice on the lake... She says the smell is not bad on the water. It's just the dead shrimp on the shore that stinks it up...It is beautiful from a distance! And the lake has been extremely low the past few years so it looks like a salt flat in most pictures

yes i have i went into the water and it was warm and the flies are a nightmare AND there are parisites that can give you worms that are in the water. plus the salt burns your cuts

There is actually a lake - we could see it off in the distance, I think the water level was just really low and we were walking on the lake bottom. We walked for an hour and a half or so and didn't hit an actual shore line, but it started to get very muddy and wet.

But umm why are you saying The Great Salt Lake is beautiful I live in Utah have been their several times and its not that great
