I love Arvo Pärt and his special music.
He is my favourite composer.
Normally, this piece is written for piano.
But I wanted to try my new microphone :-)
So I preferred to record string instruments as I didn't want to go upstaires to our grand piano ;-)
Besides, I wanted to try something different.
First I recorded the Cello as the organ point (or pedal point?), then the higher Violin which is normally the right hand (piano) and at last the second voice (Violin) which is normally played by the left hand :-)
Software used: Audacity
I hope you'll like it

  • What a brilliant idea to do this for violin and cello! Very touching. And your play is very good. I've spent some time online searching the label and trying to buy the CD 'till I found out it's your own work. Bravo. And thank you for this amazing experience.

Thank you very much! I am so happy that you like it :) I love Arvo Pärt's music... It inspires me :)

  • Words can't describe the depth and beauty of this, my soul travels to a world where compassion is expressed by musical art when i listen too this.

If love was a song, this would be it.

I would really really appreciate it if you could record the full song, i am planning on doing a contemporary dance with this version and if you do, i will make it as a video response too it.

I am ever so grateful for this, thank you so much, and you do marvelous drawings aswell.

Thank you very much! Your comment really touched me :)

But I cannot do this with the full song, because the instruments don't fit... The rest ist either too deep or too high for a violin :(

  • @tizithecat

oh thats ok, I'll just make a short contemporary routine then :)

Is it ok if i download this for my routine ?, if not just reply, i'll fully understand.

But thank you so much for posting this, it's absolutely wonderful.

  • @spontaneousluiz

Yes, you are allowed to download it :)

  • Err... sorry ; should try in english maybe ! ^^

I had not read your description for the video and I had not even realized that you were the one playing the strings !

Your playing is absolutely wonderful, expressive, pure... and sound is so limpid that I thought it was a professionnal recording, and I was searching all over the web to find the "complete" version !! ^^

Well, you'll have to play the whole piece some day, it's to beautiful ! ;)

Thank you so much, Pärt's music is like daydream !

  • This is really eerie and beautiful

  • Ohhhh!!EPIC!!So depressive!!

  • I've been struggling to split the piece to play with flute and bass flute, your piece has really helped. Awesome playing BTW. Troll

  • Truly beautiful. Who did the wonderful illustrations? I loved the butterfly and also the kingfisher.

  • @KarlAmade

Also!!! At least play it senza vibrato... this is not romanticism! this is not sentimental!!! this is ETERNAL!!!

  • Tintinabuli (meaning 'the tinkling of bells')... Alina is composed with that technique, and it is NOT to play with bowed instruments...

    Interesting, but out of point.

I'm very sorry if this offends you...honestly...

  • Für Alina is my favorite piece of music ever (nearly 800 plays since I got last.fm, and who knows how many before that), and it's amazing to hear it done in this form. Thank you.
