This is a drama that follows the life of an elderly (who is eighty years old) Alice who is now Mrs Hargreaves as she travels to the United States to receive an honorary degree from Columbia University celebrating the centenary of Lewis Carroll's birth.
Accompanied by a shy young orphan named Lucy, old Alice must navigate her way through the modern world of tabloid journalism and commercial exploitation and come to peace with her conflicted childhood with the whimsical and repressed Oxford don whose deep affection for her produced one of the most beloved classics of children's literature.
This is a DRAMA film, there is no jabberwocky but the one in the mind. There are no raving Queen of Hearts who shouts 'off with her head'. This is a story of what we must face later on in life. Regret, seeking forgiveness for past sins we felt we committed and forgiving those who had caused us pain. It is a story of a friendship between Alice and Charles Dodgson and who this friendship surpassed through the decades.
This is a rather old movie to find, the quality is not up to par because it was a low budget transfer from tape to DVD. I found my copy in a thrift store a few towns over and was lucky enough to make a duplicate just in case. It is a rare movie but not impossible to find you just need to want to look for it.
