Filmed on the 7th of April, 2010. The last of the Mission Tankers, laid down Sausalito 1943. Bueanaventura Class Tanker, T2-SE-A2, Filmed at San Francisco Dry Dock in preperation to flat tow to Texas via the Panama Canal for breaking. Steady as she goes. A very special and versital work horse of the US Merchant Marine

  • Thanks, I was hoping to get a close up of a T-2. I never got to sail on one of those. I would have loved to see the turbo electric.

    Can you get some shots of that troop transport that is next to go on the blocks?

  • Thanks! i went down last night but it was a little too dark, will pass by this afternoon and see what's happening. I appreciate your comments, it's nice to find kindred spirits here who appreciate the old merchant ships. I'd love to get shot of the Santa Ynez as she transits the Panama canal on flat tow. Looking into to that now.

  • I hate to see those old ships go. At least there are two Liberties and two Victories left in running condition. I sailed as a third engineer on the liner SS Independence and am keeping track of her location and status. She is aground off of India and will likely be scrapped in place.
