Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Thai prime minister, has defended his government's policy to stem the violence in the country's southern provinces.

Speaking exclusively to Al Jazeera, he said justice was the key to peace in the mostly-Muslim region and that his government would "prove" that people living in southern provinces are "treated fairly".

Step Vaessen reports.

  • I think the accent doesn't bother us much as his English is grammatically-correct and well-organised. And speaking of the Thai Muslims, it isn't true the Malay Thais are lazy and dependent. I actually met some who received doctorate and PhDs in Bangkok last year. They're working very well but oh, oppressions happen everywhere. As a neighbouring country citizen of Thailand, I'm glad Mr Abhisit made it clear about his Govt policy to countering the problems prevalent to the concerned issue.

  • Dumb ass mother fucker

  • who are they? and who are ours?

  • So you think its easy to work the south provinces? You must be joking. Muslims are always waiting for aid to come thru, they don't wanna work for it, they want it for free.

  • PM abhisit dodged the questions? about meeting the insurgence, I don't think PM abdhisit wants to meet them face to face, if they keep on fighting with thai army and 1 day they can succed because of their land, they wanted to be independent state.. thai people even don't understand the malay's language, most local people there they speak their local tongue(malay). the reasons why thai don't want give their land back because of there are lots of money can be made from tourists, hotels, & beaches.
