It is great and I have been very happy with it. The only thing I find is that the handle is a bit short for extended digging. It isn't designed as an actual shovel replacement so I can't really complain.

Best soldiers' tool they make. It's a good digger in anything, a decent hatchet, and obviously would be a good battle axe if you found yourself in the unlikely position of having to use one. It's most useful in the field for your, um, "morning constitutional," for which you must dig your cat hole. It'd a whole lot better than that goofy fold-up thing they issue you. Wish it had a better carrier. Still need to carry a hammer for tent pins.

this shovel is awesome its a ma'shovel...machete like object, it can hack, chop, hammer, slice, ( can't dice sorry ) throw and cut. it has replaced my hammer knife and machete, the sheath is awesome, and it is fairly light, with this, i can chop branches, de-limb them, make kindling \ a fiss stick and have a fire going or shelter built in the same time or less then my machete\knife combo.

i don't even need to baton or anything, this ax-ovel can chop anything.

and for $36 c'mon, buy it people!

Sand off the varnish on the handle then apply boiled linseed oil.

You can use the axe to make a digging stick, if an axe is all you got.
