Abdul Karriem Shabazz, 70, has been cutting hair for more than five decades. But the recession is being felt at his Chicago Heights, Ill., barbershop. For Shabazz, the reality is that he once cut as many as 150 heads a week. Nowadays, he's down to about 60. It has meant people with less discretionary income cutting back on the frequency of haircuts — typically $20 — which has translated to Shabazz sometimes working seven days a week.
