@Snowintosh Except he didn't. Castro did the liberating, and then proceeded to one up Batista's dictatorship by founding a dictatorship which has slaughtered over 300,000 people, and is currently imprisoning 1/3 of that. As tubingen92 said, Guevara was insignificant in Cuba, and his only major action during the revolution was encouraging Castro's violent retribution against the Cuban people who stood against his dictatorship, even after Batista was defeated.

Che Guevara didn't liberate anything. He did nothing at all. He was in Mexico for 1 year and a half training some 80 useful idiots and then 2 years hiding in the mountains, while workers and student were protesting in the streets everyday. He came down from the mountains when Batista left. And that's when he began executing people by the thousands. He was not known was one single act of heroism.
