I was always puzzled why Filmation changed their sound effects library after the 1967-8 season and went to basically a Hanna-Barbera sound effects library - I always felt the switch took some of the tension out of the cartoons.

Thanks so much for uploading the superman cartoons.

What I find awesome about this is that Bob Hastings who would go on to play Commissioner Gordon in Batman the Animated Series plays Superboy here.

@jgberndt One thing I DO like about this.... in old versions, the reason he wore the stupid cape was that it was invulnerable, and could thus be used to make someone else invulnerable from harm for a short period. Now it's just a dumb showoff piece. I really hope that Nolan gives it back it's true purpose, just as he gave Batman's cape a reason as well.
"Trash like this"? We are talking about the difference between animating for the movie theatre (an adult audience) and animation for Saturday morning TV. They simply did not have the budget to do movie quality animation. There are only SEVENTEEN Fleicher Superman cartoons - and they weren't on a weekly deadline. As someone who saw these cartoon when they were ORIGINALLY broadcast and they looked EXACTLY like the comics did at the time, I was thrilled. As they say about one man's trash...
