As its doing this it determines the important information by how we have marked up the page. We gave it a title, using headings and bolded or italicised some text.

Youve done this using seo meta tags and html tags. Now if you didnt there would be no real structure and the search engine would have to guess as to the subject of your webpage, most likely from the first paragraph of text found on the page.

When you realise that the scratch engines are pretty smart these days and emulate how we read ourselves, it goes a long way to getting very optimized and meaningful pages and search results.
