Some playing cards are made of better material that makes card tricks easier to do; they may slide against each other with less friction, allowing ease of movement, whereas lower quality cards would get stuck together.

Some playing cards have very carefully selected colors; I've seen a deck where they removed all the yellows from it to make it less distracting. This helps with card tricks, and can make the cards look more impressive or make playing better.

And the designs are pretty nice, too.
